Road Construction - Casar de Caceres, Spain

Casar-de-Caceres_med

Project Description: Road construction in the rural province of Extremadura using locally available road base materials.

Project Objectives: Terratech constructed a high-strength base and wear course road from T-PRO® 500 polymer infused soil material. The existing road was lightly scarified and overlaid with a 4-inch thickness of course graded import material. Once the road was scarified, a grader was used to cut drainage ditches along the shoulder and to crown the road. The polymer was infused using a tractor with harrowing disc attachment. The compaction was done with a vibratory smooth-drum roller and finished with a pneumatic rubber tire roller. After final surface preparation, the road was completed with a topical application of T-PRO 500 to seal fines and reduce infiltration capacity during the rainy season.

Equipment Used: Grader, Tractor with Harrowing Disc Attachments, Water Truck with Pressurized Spray Bar, Smooth Drum Roller, Vibrating Pneumatic Roller.

Application Specifications: Infused application with polymer dosing at 1.5% by total weight of material treated. All sections sealed with a topical seal coat at a coverage rate of 110 ft2/gal.

Maintenance Requirements: Removal of loose material from shoulder surface and topical re-application of polymer seal coat at a coverage rate of 120 ft²/gal.
